Privacy Policy

This page explains, service by service, exactly what MoonCadence does with your data — because a moon-phase site that reads your location deserves a policy that says precisely what happens to it, not a generic legal template.

Location Data Never Leaves Your Browser

The moonrise/moonset lookup and any "today's moon for your location" widget ask your browser's own Geolocation API for permission, then run every calculation — rise time, set time, position — locally in JavaScript on your device. Your latitude and longitude are held in memory for that one page view and are never transmitted to our servers, logged, or shared with any third party. Denying location access simply means those specific widgets fall back to a manual location entry instead.

Newsletter Signups

If you subscribe using the footer newsletter form, your email address is sent to Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), our email service provider, and added to a single mailing list used only for MoonCadence updates. Brevo processes that address under its own privacy terms as our data processor. You can unsubscribe from any email we send using the link in its footer.

Contact Form Submissions

The contact form forwards your name, email address, and message to Formspree, which relays it to our own inbox so we can reply. We keep that correspondence only as long as needed to resolve whatever you wrote in about, and we don't add contact-form addresses to the newsletter list unless you separately subscribe.

Purchases and Donations

Both the personalized lunar calendar PDF and the "support us" donation button run through Stripe Checkout. Stripe collects and processes your card details directly on its own hosted payment page — MoonCadence never sees, receives, or stores your card number. For the PDF purchase, we do receive the email address, location, year, and optional birthday you enter at checkout, because a real person needs that information to hand-build your calendar; it is used for that fulfilment only.

Site Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (only once a real measurement ID is configured) and Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages get read, roughly how visitors arrive. Both report anonymized/aggregated usage statistics; neither is wired to identify you personally, and neither receives the coordinates your browser's Geolocation API produces.

Advertising and Affiliate Links

This site serves ads through Google AdSense, which may use cookies to show relevant advertising and measure performance; you can control ad personalization through Google's own Ad Settings. Some skywatching-gear recommendations on our guide pages are Amazon affiliate links — we earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you, and every page carrying them says so plainly next to the picks.

Your Choices

You can browse nearly all of MoonCadence — every phase page, calendar, and folklore article — without granting location access, subscribing, or accepting any cookie. To ask what data we hold on you or to request deletion of a newsletter subscription or contact-form record, use the contact page; we respond from the same inbox Formspree forwards to.

Changes to This Policy

If the services above change — a new analytics tool, a different email provider — we'll update this page rather than introduce a new tracking mechanism silently.
